In 2023 the public can explore and contemplate some of the masterpieces of art history. Beginning in February with the major exhibition “Repetition” (4th February 2023 – 27th January 2025), a reference to the eponymous painting by Marie Laurencin. The exhibition includes iconic works from the collections of the Centre Pompidou, National Museum of Modern Art. The Orsay Museum has also lent some exceptional works: Gustave Courbet’s “L’Origine du Monde” will be displayed in the exhibition-event “Lacan, The Exhibition. When the Artist Precedes the Psychoanalyst” (18th November 2023 – 15th April 2024), and August Renoir’s “Danse la Ville” can be seen in the exhibition “Suzanne Valadon. A World of Her Own” (15th April – 11th Septembre 2023).
The Centre Pompidou-Metz is working to expand access to art and increase its audience through exhibitions like: “Worldbuilding. Video Games and Art in the Digital Era” (10th June 2023 – 15th January 2024), a partnership with the Julia Stoschek Collection in Düsseldorf. The artistic duo Elmgreen & Dragset will also be presenting the vast exhibition “Bonne Chance” (10th June 2023 – 1st April 2024). Designed to reveal itself progressively, appearing and disappearing, the exhibition unfolds through dream-like scenarios revealing installations, sculptures, and performances on full-scale sets. The Centre Pompidou-Metz has prepared a rich programme of associated events: live shows, cinematic projections and conferences. There’s something for everyone.
