Introduction

Immigrants from across the Rhine, the numerous soldiers - often Protestant - stationed in Metz prompted the rapid construction of new places of worship dedicated for their use. A large hall church, of which only the narrow 90m tower remains, was built in the city at the beginning of the annexation to the German Empire.
