Introduction

In 1974, development resulting from the construction of the Metz-Thionville motorway helped to create an area of 7,2 hectares which has become the lake of the Ile Saint Symphorien. Since then, the public has enjoyed its many walks with magnificent views of the city and its sports and leisure facilities, popular with tourists and residents alike. The lake is also the perfect location for the numerous festivals that take place (Metz Beach, 14 July celebrations, hot air balloon festival, etc.).
From April to October, take a river trip from the Plan d’Eau park. For families, friends or solo, dine on the river, take an aperitif or a trip with musical accompagnement. The electro-solar boats, 9 to 75 places, will let you discover the Moselle river and the flora and fauna around Metz. For more information contact the agency Inspire Metz - Tourist Office.
Follow the Jouy canal towpath to the Botanic Garden, or follow the banks of the Moselle and discover, the Pavillon Bleud’Europe leisure port and unique views of Saint Etienne’s Cathedral and the Temple Neuf.
