EXHIBITION - BY COACH! (WAGON N°2)

Introduction

The Bibliothèques Médiathèques de Metz present their new virtual exhibition "En voiture!", focusing on the history of Metz railway station and the beginnings of rail tourism.
Through a selection of documents, plans, books, postcards and posters held in their heritage collections, discover the past of this remarkable city building.
Metz station has been named "Most Beautiful Station in France" three times. However, its history also evokes unfinished projects and various stations that preceded the current one. The station played an important role in Metz's history, as the enormous works that led to its construction restructured not only the "imperial" district, but also the entire city of Metz. The early days of the railroads saw the emergence of new lifestyles and leisure activities, as well as the development of rail tourism.
This virtual exhibition has been designed as part of the 2024 European Heritage Days and the national theme "Heritage of routes, networks and connections".
