THEATER - LYCÉE MOLIÈRE

A one-man show written, directed and performed by Olivier Sauton.

The year is 2023. The illustrious Molière is sitting in heaven, bored. Yes, he who spent his life entertaining and acting, now enjoys an eternity where time seems long, so long... No audience, no theater: what a tragedy for the king of comedy! Suddenly, God appears to him! And warns him: the great playwright is threatened with expulsion on the pretext that France is forgetting the language of Molière! So, if Jean Baptiste Poquelin wants to keep his place among the eternal and not fall into oblivion, nothingness and darkness, he'll have to take on the following mission: to be propelled incognito into the France of 2023, where he'll teach French at the lycée... Molière in... Saint Denis... and restore a taste for the French language among the youth of the twenty-first century.
Culture shock guaranteed! Here's our man, prey to a class of unruly teenagers, discovering (not without some trepidation) their language, their codes and their references, far removed from the alexandrines of the author of The Misanthrope! Nevertheless, Molière was determined to fulfil his task, certainly out of a concern to remain in posterity's good books, but even more out of duty, out of a passion for transmission. For what could be more beautiful than teaching others?
